A Million Pounds For The Lord
It was Fathers Day in 1989 that Mick Wood, the Chairman of The Harvesters Trust, became a Christian. It would be true to say that his life changed forever - becoming a Christian was the best thing that ever happened to him. Mick wanted others to known about Jesus and, as his faith developed, he remembered an idea that he had formed before becoming a Christian and set out to make that idea / vision become a reality.
Sir Bob Geldof was the inspiration behind Band Aid (and later Sport Aid) raising £150 million for famine relief. What would happen if, rather than give the money away, it was invested and the interest generated given away each and every year to promote the Gospel? This concept of raising and investing money, generating and then giving away the interest earned, is what The Harvesters Trust is all about. The initial target is to raise and invest £1 million.
In practice The Harvesters Trust has given away almost all of the funds raised but the £1 million vision still remains. That is the fundamental purpose of this Web site - to raise and invest £1 million pounds for the Gospel!
Since its formation in 1993 The Harvesters Trust has been able to release money to a wide variety of people, projects, and organisations in 29 countries throughout the world including Serbia, Russia, India, Albania, Spain, Romania, Zambia, Uganda, Argentina, Guatemala, and South Africa, as well as many workers and organisations in the UK. Examples of beneficiaries include:-
- Regular support for pastors in Uganda, Zambia, Serbia, India, Spain, & Russia.
- Regular support for Romanian orphans and street children
- Regular support for many UK based workers
- Regular support for many bible college students
- Providing holidays for deserving children and families in UK

The above list shows just how much can be accomplished with relatively little resources. Imagine what we could do for the Lord with £1 million.
